Lady GaGa Reveals Her Musical Inspiration

To this day Lady GaGa said that her ex-lover was the main one who has helped her with the inspiration on most of her music and she gives full credit to him with inspiring her in almost all of her songs. Lady Gaga is known for many hits but the one that almost everyone remembers is “Poker Face” and her most recent hit includes “Telephone”.

Lady GaGa is convinced that the reason why she's able to write like she does is that it's because of her ex boyfriend Luke who was a heavy metal drummer. She said that after the break up she made a vow that she would never love anyone else again. She goes on further to say that she knows she wouldn't be successful without him. She really loved him and hasn't loved anyone like that since nor before him.

Lady GaGa goes on with saying that if she knew everything there was to know about love she feels that she wouldn’t be good at making music and that things happen for a reason. This break up was hard on her but has helped her in a lot of ways such as with music.

Sarah Jessica Parker And Matthew Broderick Hit The Harry Potter Premiere With James Wilkie

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick scored some major cool parent points last night with the their son James Wilkie.  The celebrity parents let their 8-year-old make his “red carpet debut” last night at the NYC premiere of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1“, but to James’ slight disappointment, the carpet was actually black.

During the interviews they shared that they had read up to book 4 together, with James adding that he read book 5 by himself, but had stopped there.

I watched the entire livestream of the premiere and it was pretty good.  The London livestream last week had a few more of the cast members in attendance and there seemed to be quite a few more interviews on that one, but the NYC one was still worth watching.  I loved listening to James speak.  You know how with some kids you can just TELL that they are respectful, kind, and just “good kids”?  That’s exactly the vibe I got from watching him.  What a neat young man.

Tony Sparano a Logical Fit to Replace Wade Phillps in Dallas

With a 41-35 loss to the NY Giants on Monday night the Dallas Cowboys fall to 1-5 and sit in last place in the NFC East. Many prognosticators pegged the Cowboys as the first team ever to host a super bowl in their home stadium. Now with the loss of Tony Romo to a broken clavicle, all super bowl hopes can be flushed down the toilet and the boys can begin to look to next season.

Jerry Jones has repeatedly backed Wade Phillips and with an ego the size of Texas, do not look for a change midseason. Replacing Phillips would also require the hiring of a new defensive coordinator and no one on the current staff has stood out. After all, this Dallas team gave up over 500 yards of offense and 31 points in a 15 minute stretch to the Giants. The secondary was repeatedly torched making Eli Manning look like older brother Peyton going 14 for 15 with 3 touchdowns in that same stretch.

Phillips has won one playoff game in his tenure. His teams are sloppy and undisciplined which reflects in averaging almost 10 penalties a game this season. In a must win game the Cowboys looked flat despite 2 early interceptions. Phillips lacks fire and often looks lost or stoned standing on the sidelines. The "gosh shucks" approach is not going to cut it for much longer in Dallas.

Look for Tony Sparano as a possible replacement. Sparano is everything Phillips isn't, tough, passionate, and disciplined. He looks like a football coach, stalking the sidelines in dark shades to protect his eyes from bright lights after suffering an eye injury as a teenager. Sparano took the Dolphins to the playoffs the year after a dismal 1-15 season.

Most people think Jones will want to make a splash with a big name coach like Bill Cowher, yet Sparano has a history with the Cowboys and is used to having someone constantly looking over his shoulder after working with Bill Parcells. Dolphins new owner Stephen Ross has long been rumored to have interest in Carl Peterson as a potential replacement for Parcells as vice president of football operations. Peterson would most likely want to hire his own man to coach the Dolphins, opening the door for Sparano and the Cowboys. Those shades may come in handy in the bright lights of "Big D."

Christina Aguilera and Husband Jordan Bratman Divorce Drama, Why Couple Split!

The Christina Aguilera has split from husband Jordan Bratman , what another divorce shocker. First Courtney Cox and now Christina. It is so hard in Hollywood to keep a relationship together. It's reported that the couple have been living separately for the last few months and are not sure if they'll divorce or not. What was the reason behind Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman’s break up?

Christina Aguilera and Jordan first met in 2002 and wed  in 2005. Together, they've a beautiful baby boy Max and seemed to have the perfect marriage. Aguilera born under the astrology sign of Sagittarius, is a free spirited girl. The recent flop of her latest album and career challenges have definitely put a strain on her marriage with Jordan Bratman, a record executive.

What went wrong between Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman? According to United States Magazine, “They were very much in love,” explains the insider. “But over the last 6 months, it became clear they were more like friends than husband and wife.”The source adds that Aguilera even “proposed their August trip to Italy to rekindle their relationship, but it didn’t help.” Does not Christina Aguilera know all marriages have their ebb and flow, you are never madly in love 24/7?

Astrologically, Christina Aguilera who comes from a broken home has quite a few challenges facing her over the next year. Currently, she’s going through her Saturn return which makes her question what she wants out of life. With her Venus in Scorpio, she can be a jealous and possessive wife. Astrochicks thinks once Christina sees the grass isn't greener on the other side, she may reconcile with her husband Jordan Bratman. Wishing Christina the best. Hopefully she can work it out with her man for the sake of Max.

Paris Hilton Arrested for Cocaine Possession

Paris Hilton always manages to stay in the news. Less than a week ago, an intruder, Nathan Lee Parada, armed with two knives tried to break into her home and was confronted by her boyfriend.

“So Scary, just got woken up to a guy trying to break into my house holding 2 big knifes,” Hilton tweeted. She posted a photo of the suspect in handcuffs being taken away from her Mullholland Estates home.

And then on Friday night, Paris Hilton was making headlines again when she was arrested in Las Vegas for allegedly having cocaine in her purse. She was booked into jail, and then later released.

Apparently Hilton was riding in a black Cadillac Escalade near the Wynn hotel when a Las Vegas Police motorcycle officer smelled marijuana coming from her vehicle. The police pulled over the Escalade and a crowd began to gather on the Strip, so Hilton asked to go into the Wynn for privacy. That’s when she made a critical mistake.

“Miss Hilton pulled out a tube of lip balm,” police Sgt. John Sheahan said. “At the same time … a bindle of cocaine in a plastic bag came out of her purse.” — right in front of police in the room.

Hilton was arrested on suspicion of felony cocaine possession. Her boyfriend, Las Vegas nightclub mogul Cy Waits, was driving the Escalade and was also arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Did you ever think someone with such a simple and the elegant hairstyle could ooze so much sex appeal? Well Allison Hannigan certainly did. She had this style long ago that gave her so much confidence and it seems like it's done so effortless.

Tired of having long hair and want a fresh new look then go for this easy to maintain hair cut. The trick is if you've quite high cheekbones to avoid having a very bland cut add in a fringe. If you are a bit weary of a fringe you can opt for the safer look, which is a slightly longer fringe swept to one side. An added bonus is that it enhances your collar bone creating a bare illusion.

Prince William, was born under the astrology star sign of  Gemini. A Flight Lieutenant  in the Royal Air Force, is a smart and independent young man. The Prince shares the same charitable nature of his mother, Princess Diana . Over the years, Prince William has supported various humanitarian causes that include; helping the needy and perserving the natural environment. Reggie Bush Girlfriend Love Triangle, Mayra Veronica and Ex Kim Kardashian

Is Reggie Bush  involved in a love triangle with Kim Kardashian  and the Mayra Veronica?  In a recent interview, Kim Kardashian has claimed that she is not dating anyone and loves being single.  On Twitter, Kim has been sending flirty messages to ex boyfriend, Miles Austin. Recently on her reality show, Keeping Up With Kardashian, Kim put Reggie Bush on blast and exposed his jealous side.

Reggie Bush in the game of love, is reportedly romantically involved with Latin pop star, Mayra Veronica. Is the Kim Kardashian lookalike his new girlfriend? Or is our Pisces boy emotionally confused?

TaleTela reported that Mayra Veronica was spotted grocery shopping wearing a Reggie Bush New Orleans Saints jersey. Nothing like a little publicity while you are buying some milk and eggs. Mayra posed suggestively for the awaiting paparazzi in a short white skirt, while she bent over to place her shopping bags in the car. Gee, why so subtle Mayra?

Reggie Bush born the astrology star sign of Pisces is an emotional guy. I’m sure being in a relationship with Kim Kardashian wasn’t easy. The possessive type, I’m sure Reggie and Kim had plenty of fights. A romantic guy, he likes to spoil his ladies and Kim a Libra, definitely likes the bling. Reggie Bush’s  new lady, Mayra Veronica a Leo girl, is a hot Latina full of passion. She loves drama, being the center of attention and is probably more pushy than Kim.

Astrologically, I don’t see Reggie Bush and Mayra Veronica as a long term relationship. I think her personality is too over the top for Reggie in the long run. Plus, Astrochicks thinks Kim Kardashian is way hotter than Mayra Veronica, although both have junk in the trunk.  Of course love is blind but in the end, I think Reggie Bush will score love with someone other than Mayra. Stay tuned.

The future and the element of the unknown is both exciting and nerve-racking for Felton and he looks forward to equally exciting projects for him in the future. When asked whether he was looking forward to playing a good guy in the future he answered: “No. Well, I do not know. Emma Watson Shocked Over Fake Photo Scandal

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I” actress Emma Watson is the shocked over her recent photo scandal at her school, Brown University, the Daily Mail is reporting. Watson is trying to find out who e-mailed the fake image of her wearing nothing but a towel around her waist to her classmates so she can put a stop to it. Her rep has commented on the scandal, saying “There have been a number of nude fakes over the past 2 months. (Emma) has seen them and finds them tiresome. People should know better.”

The comment comes just after Watson gave an interview to Marie Claire. She said she's found a great group of friends at the university, and they're protective of her. She added that “Brown has a real sense of community…(people) really look out for me; they want me to feel like I’m part of it.”

Watson also told The Sun that she wishes she’s done more naughty things. She added that she’s ready to start taking risks. She also said that she’s been in love once in her life, but she does not want to reveal who it was because it would not be fair.

The scandal comes just as the second-to-last ‘Harry Potter’ movie, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1,’ is gearing up for its November 19th release. ‘Part 2′ will be released in July 2011, 10 years after the original, ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,’ hit theaters in November 2001.

Miley Cyrus also known as Hannah Montana is to the star in a brand new movie called “Wake” and during this film it looks like she will be cutting her clean cut image for good which does not surprise people but it does disappoint a few of her fans.

Miley Cyrus is only 17 years old but recently said that she wants to really focus with doing a lot of movies in the next few years. There's a new movie that's coming out known called The Paranormal Thriller and she's preparing for a very grown up role in this movie. The movie is about a teenage girl that gets sucked in people’s dreams and after that it ends up being a living nightmare.

Wake is part of a series of 3 books so it looks like Miley is going to be busy for awhile with the new role and part that she is doing because it looks like Cyrus is the favorite for the lead role and she's hoping for this chance because people might start looking at her as a adult instead of being a child. She might gain some new fans with the new role she could be taking on.

Mariah Carey has pet pooches and her lawyer dismissed the claim that was made saying that she had around 20,000 pounds to pay in medical fees with the vets for the ones that took care of her pooches.

Mariah Carey was sued by Veterinarian Cindy Bressler and the accused her of paying only 5,487 pounds when she actually owed 25,193 pounds and had the bill to prove of all of the services that she did for her dogs. Orin Snyder is Carey’s attorney and he feels that Mariah should fight the law suit. He feels that the lawsuit is just a stunt and feels that because of Mariah’s confident attitude that it's going to be dismissed.

People feel that it would also do Mariah good to fight it out more so if she really does not need to pay them and if it’s a stunt then those people need to be revealed and put to a stop of their work. Mariah Carey is willing to go along with it and her attorney is going to be helping her during the case. No one knows at this point what the outcome might be.

The Secret Plan to End Democracy in America

We'd do well to review elements of the USA Patriot Act, passed by Congress a month after the Sept 11th attacks. Among other things, the new law made it a crime for anybody to contribute money or material support for a group that appeared on the Terror Watch List. It allowed the FBI to monitor and tape-record conversations between attorneys and clients, once considered privileged. It let the FBI order librarians to turn over information about people's reading habits. And it opened the door for government surveillance on our e-mails and snail-mails.

So it is no surprise that the Bush Administration soon embarked on an illegal wiretapping program, a story that the NY Times sat on for a year before finally publishing it.

The National Security Agency (NSA) set up a secret room in downtown San Francisco under the auspices of AT&T, where the NSA could tap into the telecom giant's fiber-optic cables. These were not just part of AT&T, but connected their network to Sprint, Global Crossing and other companies (including Qwest, which had refused to play ball).

According to former AT&T technician Mark Klein, the result was "a complete copy of the data stream." It all went through NSA headquarters at Fort Meade, ten miles outside D.C., where the agency has a "colossal Cray supercomputer, code-named the 'Black Widow.'" (Don't you love all these "black" designations?) This supercomputer is capable of scanning "millions of domestic and international phone calls and e-mails per hour performing hundreds of trillions of calculations per second. [It] searches through and reassembles key words and patterns, across many languages."

They targeted certain journalists and basically vacuumed in all the domestic communications of Americans, including faxes, phone calls and Internet traffic. Code-named Pinwale, the NSA's secret database even scooped up the private e-mails of former President Clinton.

Dancing With The Stars Finals, Brandy and Maks Elimination, Fan Shocker?

Dancing With the Stars finals, warning this is an elimination spoiler. Jennifer Grey the fan favorite to win, waltzed into the finals along with Kyle Massey . The audience on pins and needles, who'd they send home tonight, Brandy Norwood  or Bristol Palin? Bristol who's become America’s Sweetheart, is definitely the most improved dancer this season. I think she not only surprised the judges but the home audience as well.

In a show shocker, Dancing With the Stars  fans sent Brandy Norwood packing. Yes, she was a better dancer than Bristol Palin but she could not compete on a popularity level. Lets face it, Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas share an incredible chemistry and they both seem so sweet. Plus, Bristol Palin is an underdog, a teen mom and she's that incredible Republican base to draw from. Mama Grizzly Bear, Sarah Palin, must be so proud.

For Brandy Norwood and Maks, they're technically fabulous dancers but I did not see much passion between the two. Plus, Maks has an arrogant attitude and came across like a poor sport. Personally, I think Maks ruined it for Brandy, he was not that likeable this season.

Astrochicks is definitely impressed by Bristol Palin’s grace and positive attitude. She took criticism well and improved each week.  I think last nights performance had a touch of Romeo and Juliet, Bristol and Mark definitely looked super cute together. Bristol Palin a Libra girl, definitely knows how to pull at fans heart strings. Astrochicks hopes Jennifer Grey  or Kyle Massey will take home the Dancing With the Stars trophy. We love Bristol Palin but we think the other 2 deserve to win more. Stay tuned.

Jessica Simpson Wedding Eric Johnson Getting Married on New Year's Eve?

Jessica Simpson  and Eric Johnson who announced their engagement this week, may be planning a holiday wedding. If rumors are real, Jessica and Eric will tie the knot on New Years Eve. Why so quickly? Is Jessica Simpson pregnant or just trying to the beat Nick Lachey  to the punch?

Jessica Simpson who has been unlucky in love, is thrilled to have found her Prince Charming. Eric Johnson a former NFL star, is a down to earth Virgo guy, who will give Jessica a strong shoulder to lean on. Some gossip blogs have been mean spirited, claiming Jessica Simpson is desperate for getting engaged so quickly. Really? Khloe Kardashian married Lamar Odom after only a month. When you are in love, why wait?

The other nasty rumor on the web is Jessica Simpson bought her own engagement ring. Some media outlets speculate that Eric Johnson could not afford to buy her a $100k ring.  Johnson who comes from an incredibly wealthy family could easily have a trust fund, maybe saved his money from his NFL career, or there’s always credit.

Personally, Astrochicks is happy for Jessica Simpson. Anyone who can survive a relationship with John Mayer the Player, has my respect. Our girl born under the astrology star sign of Cancer, just wants to have a family and settle down. She’s parlayed her entertainment career into a fashion empire, she definitely deserves to have someone special to share it with.  I’m hope that her future husband Eric Johnson, can provide Jessica a  lifetime of happiness and love. Stay tuned.

Was He Murdered? Is He Even Dead?

More than 40 years ago, backed by his 4 brothers, a ten-year-old Michael Jackson stepped up to a microphone and the sang lead vocal on the classic Jackson 5 song, "I Want You Back." Today, millions of his fans across the world are saying the same thing about him.

More than a year after Jackson's death, unanswered questions remain about what really happened to the King of Pop.

It took investigators 8 months to sift through the evidence and bring charges of involuntary manslaughter against Dr. Conrad Murray, the personal physician with Jackson the morning his heart stopped beating. But some—members of the pop icon's immediate family and his fiercest fans around the world—claim that focusing solely on Murray was a mistake.

Jackson's brother, Jermaine, and sister, LaToya, are among those who allege that his death was the tragic culmination of a conspiracy to kill the star and that Murray did not commit the crime alone. Others say Jackson moonwalks on, having faked his death Elvis-style to escape the media spotlight that hounded him.

Brad Pitt Has Been Visiting A Psychic

Just recently reports came in that Brad Pitt has been seeing a psychic and that he has been getting some guidance about his relationship with the Angelina Jole. He's getting some help from a spiritual adviser and the adviser confirmed that he was going to her for readings.

The adviser went on to further say that he knows him personally and thinks that he's a very spiritual person. Some people said that they're worried about the relationship that he's with Jolie but the adviser said that he can't talk about the relationship nor what is going on because it would break his confidentiality and that he doesn't want that. Brad feels that the adviser is a source of inspiration, and comfort during very hard times and that he's really helped him.

People hope that this adviser is able to help the relationship with Angelina and Brad because they've kids and they need to learn how to stay together through everything regardless of what all happens. They need to be strong and loving parents which can only be truly accomplished if they love each other deeply but if they do divorce they still need to learn how to get along together for the kids.

This Week's Shining & Falling Stars: Billy Ray Cyrus And Kim Kardashian

Shining Star: Billy Ray Cyrus: This may be a first: congratulating someone for rocking a mullet. But props must go out to the Billy Ray Cyrus for bravely donning the “business in the front, party in the back” hairdo just a few weeks after announcing a split from his wife of 17 years.

The occasion for the blast from the past coif? Wednesday’s Country Music Awards in Nashville. It was 1st public appearance by Miley’s dad since filing for divorce from his wife, Tish, amid rumors that she had an affair with rocker Bret Michaels. Both Tish and Michaels deny the relationship.

Maybe Cyrus is on the something – the best cure for an achy, breaky heart might just be a mullet.

There may be only one thing that's worse than this scenario: you are a single, 30-year-old woman, crying into a tub of Chunky Monkey ice cream, and contemplating if you will ever find a man. So what's a far more unfortunate fate? As you fill up that ice cream carton with tears, you spot the latest cover of People magazine featuring Kim Kardashian.

The reality show star solemnly poses for the glossy with the headline, "I Thought I'd Be Married By Now". That's right, the sometimes socialite/actress/model, who's known for her killer curves and for gracing the pages of Playboy magazine, is complaining about not being able to find true love. Gag me.

While the cover’s headline may be a bit misleading (Kardashian does say living the single life makes her feel "powerful") she also indicates that she can't wait to land a man. She tells the mag that it's sooo tough having 2 sisters who have beaus, saying, "It's definitely a change for me. I have always been the one in a relationship. I like that role, I want that best friend partnership."

Feel bad for a beauty who's loads of dough and seemingly endless options in men? 3 words for Kim: boo fricking hoo.

Harry Potter Star Emma Watson Enjoys College Life

‘Harry Potter’ star Emma Watson is enjoying her collegiate experience at the Brown University. She especially seems to like the unstructured lifestyle.

“It was so liberating. I’d be smiling to myself and friends would say, ‘Emma, what’s wrong?’ and I’d say, ‘I am just happy’. I take pleasure in the smallest thinks. Like, I’m going to wake up at 10 o’clock if I want to. Or, I’m going to eat a sandwich now.

“I've such a structure when I’m working on ‘Potter’. I get told what time I get picked up. I get told what time I can eat, when I've time to go to the bathroom. Every single second of my day isn't in my power.”

That doesn't sound like a fun way to live! But I hope Emma’s able to find some kind of balance: I’d miss her if she didn’t do any more movies.

New MapQuest Directions API Built on the Open Data

Online driving directions pioneer MapQuest had the first free directions web service a year ago. Now it followed up with the same engine based on the wiki-like Open Street Map data. The new, open service follows an open version of the MapQuest tiles.

MapQuest’s David Nesbitt made the announcement via a talk at State of the Map United States a conference for Open Street Map enthusiasts.

The Open MapQuest API site is in Beta, but currently doesn't require an API Key. Unlike the production Directions Web Service, this one requires coordinates instead of addresses, likely due to lack of a reliable open geocoder world-wide.

There have been several attempts within the Open Street Map community to create a routing service. CloudMade, a mapping company based on Open Street Map data, has its own routing API, which includes biking and walking directions. A company as large as MapQuest embracing the data source is a huge win for Open Street Map.

Driving directions as a free web service, unrestricted by JavaScript-only access, was unheard of until MapQuest released its API a year ago. Google developers had long been asking for the feature, which Google finally released earlier this year.

Revolt Against the TSA Body Scanners Leaves Racist Options

As a frequent flier the Transportation Safety Administration airport passenger search process gives comfort to this one. The latest part of a process from arrival to plane boarding has kept the American traveler largely safe from another 9-11 incident. The only thing bothersome was the view, for a time, that TSA workers singled out blacks for inspection more than whites or anyone else.

There was the time my then-74-year-old mom was singled out randomly by a large, unattractive loudmouth sista who I threatened to have fired from her job at Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson Airport for speaking inappropriately to her.

Come to think of it, I've not seen her since then.

More recently, the use of better machines, universally applied, like the TSA Body Scanner, have made concerns that passengers would be singled out by race far less. Only now, some passengers do not want to be the subject of a full-body scan.

According to The Washington Post, "A groundswell of anger has rippled through the nation's airports," by people who don't want their bodily attributes or lack thereof exposed, literally, by body scanners.  Such people probably aren't black, because if they were, they'd express joy over the knowledge that some white guy or gal's getting the same TSA scrutiny, rather than ask for it to stop.

That's why I say "Keep it going."  The TSA Body Scanner eliminates a racist option.  Everyone should be scanner before they go about the act of flying on a plane.

'Conan' night three: Jon Hamm, Charlyne Yi, and few more TBS jokes

Conan O’Brien’s 3rd night on TBS was … fine? While his new show is nearly a carbon copy of his old gig, there were still a couple growing pains on display last night. The most notable, and self-referential: more of the “I’m on TBS” gags that he has been working this week. “I am of course Conan O’Brien,” he told the audience by way of introduction. “Or, as I’m now contractually obligated to call myself since joining TBS, Tyler Perry’s Conan O’Brien.” Har har.

He also shared some clever working titles for his show, including Plan B with Conan O’Brien, One Hour to Lopez, S— a Tall Irish Attention Whore Says, and Taller and Gayer Ellen. (Check out this bit in the clip below.) Then he jumped into standard talk show fare — Bush jokes, Obama jokes, lions, tigers and ligers, oh my! — before bringing out guests, which we’ll tackle one by one:

TBS founder Ted Turner (okay, it was Will Forte) riding high on a buffalo (okay, it was stuffed), cursing out the crowd for being a bunch of “marijuana smokin’ Fig Newton eatin’ beatniks.” Cute, but we couldn’t help thinking how cool it would’ve been to have the real Ted on the couch.

Mad Men star Jon Hamm. Has anyone else noticed that this man is oddly attractive? Ah yes, you've. It seemed like Conan was awfully profuse in his thanks to Hamm for coming on the show, but handsome Hamm is probably used to such treatment — he lives in a beautiful-person bubble, after all.

Comedian-performer-don’t-call-me-an-actress Charlyne Yi, who told a not-particularly ingratiating story about refusing to learn her lines on a television , before singing a song called “Coyote,” which consisted largely of howling noises. Huh.

But the most memorable moment might’ve been when Yi noted that someone’s phone was ringing in the audience. Conan shot the crowd a genuinely peeved, daddy-mad look and scolded everyone to turn their phones off. “People just bring phones into our show,” he said. “They’re like aw, it’s TBS, whatever.” Funny thing there, Conan: I’m not sure most people really have such a low opinion of TBS. But you certainly seem to.

Paul Knox Middle students honor local veterans

Aiken County schools are honoring our country's veterans all this week. One of the programs was at Paul Knox Middle School in the North Augusta. The students say the greatest gift they can give veterans is to not only say "thank you" but to truly understand what they have done for our country.

Kids gathered in the gym, some clapping and others waving flags. Eighth-grader Jacqueline Phillips says she's excited to be part of the festivity. "It shows that we have freedom in America, and we can do as we please, but I am really proud of all the veterans, so that's why it's so important to me." She says it's important to know the meaning behind the day. "The veterans have fought to protect this wonderful nation."

Kids read heartfelt poems, and others gave speeches, but all eyes were on the vets sitting front and center. The veterans listened to those who wrote poems especially for them. Sydney Budds read her poem. "Courageous is what you're when you fight, to make sure your loved ones can sleep at night." Both of her grandfathers served in the military, and their war stories inspired her to write the poem. She says she's learned some important lessons. "They fought hard, and my grandfathers both made it out okay, but some didn't make it back," Budd says.

The Veterans Program at the middle school wasn't the only thing in store for veterans. Kids also put their poems all throughout the hallway to show those who serve our country how very much they're appreciated.

Bob Ramsey, who served in the army for 26 years, loved seeing the kids so excited. "It is very inspiring to see it. At one time, the country wasn't as patriotic as it's today, and it's tremendously rewarding to those of us who served to see that patriotism is returning to the classrooms.” Ramsey flew helicopters in Vietnam, and he says he knows that freedom is not free. He has a message for the students. "Keep the faith. Keep the faith. There's a great future ahead for this country because of the veterans that we have and because of those that are serving."

Jacqueline says she knows a lot of people have lost their lives or gotten hurt while fighting, so even when she grows up, she'll continue to remember this day and what it means. "On Veterans Day, we just really need to honor the veterans, and we need to thank them for all they've done for this country."

The other programs that will take place on Nov 11 are below:

Gloverville Elementary will be having a Veterans Day Parade throughout the school building beginning at approximately 8:00 on November 11, 2010. In addition to the parade and assembly, veterans will be speaking in classrooms throughout the day. Please contact Terena Corley for more information about our Veterans Day activities.

North Augusta Middle School Veteran's Day program will be held at 9:00 a.m. in the gym.

Garrett takes Cowboys reins from fired Phillips

Jerry Jones fired Dallas head coach Wade Phillips on the Monday and promoted offensive coordinator Jason Garrett to take over the Cowboys (1-7) on an interim basis. Defensive line coach Paul Pasqualoni replaced Phillips as defensive coordinator.

Jones, the Cowboys' owner-general manager, decided enough was enough following a 45-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday nighttime. It was the Cowboys' 5th straight loss and they've allowed at least 35 points in 3 straight games, which had not happened since Dallas went 0-11-1 in its inaugural season, 1960.

"I recognized that after the game we just weren't playing winning football and our best chance was to the make a change," Jones said.

This is the first time Dallas has made an in-season coaching change. Garrett, 44, becomes the first former Dallas player to take the job.

"There'll be some changes that I think will be tangible that people in our organization will notice right from the start," Garrett said. "I just think the personality of the leader will come through a little bit."

Hits: The NFL fined Green Bay safety Nick Collins $50,000 for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Dallas receiver Roy Williams. ... The league will not hand out any discipline for the hit that gave Indianapolis receiver Austin Collie a concussion in Philadelphia. The NFL said because the helmet-to-helmet contact was a result of Collie being driven toward Kurt Coleman by Quintin Mikell's legal hit, there will be no fine.

Done: Giants center Adam Koets has torn knee ligaments and will miss the rest of the season. ... Panthers quarterback Matt Moore has a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder and needs season-ending surgery.

ANCYL’s Mining Comments ‘puerile’ – Times LIVE

The contribution that the league makes to sensible and enlightened debate on issues of the national importance is lamentable and is consistently characterised by a crude proclivity to descend into abusive and intimidatory rhetoric,” he said in a statement.

Diliza said the chamber had “noted the puerile and insulting responses of the ANC Youth League to observations made on nationalisation of the mining industry by the chamber’s outgoing President Sipho Nkosi”.
At the right time, in the correct forum and with individuals and institutions appropriately qualified to participate in a logical discourse that is not contaminated by vacuous utterances, the chamber will constructively and vigorously present it is well considered perspectives on the issue of nationalisation,” he said.

Speaking at the chamber’s AGM on Tues, Nkosi said nationalisation had never been successful anywhere in the world. Simple, indisputable facts which show conclusively that nationalisation has never been an enduring, successful system anywhere in the world where it has been implemented, are readily available,” he said.

An antiquated and discredited practice, nationalisation has impoverished many countries — several of them in Africa.

In response, ANCYL spokesman Floyd Shivambu said in a statement on Wed: “The [ANCYL] is disgusted by misleading and pathetic lies spread by the Chamber of Mines that nationalisation has never succeeded anywhere in the world.

He alleged the chamber had supported apartheid legislation and measures treating blacks as sub-human.

They therefore hold no moral standing to say anything constructive in the rebuilding of South Africa in the post-democratic dispensation.

The ANC’s recent national general council (NGC) resolved that its leadership would investigate the viability of nationalising the country’s mines, after repeated calls to do so from its youth league. Ahead of the NGC President Jacob Zuma and Mineral Resources Minister Susan Shabangu said nationalisation wasn't the ANC-led government’s policy.

The matter would again be discussed by the ruling party at its next policy conference. A decision on the whether it should be made policy would be taken at its 2012 elective conference.

Hear Michael Jackson's Breaking New

First of all, Breaking News Is not the "new" Michael Jackson single. Not sure if you heard, but the King of Pop passed away in June 2009. No, this song (supposedly recorded in 2007) is merely a teaser for his forthcoming album, Michael, due on 14 December – a collection of songs recorded over the last decade and ended by various producers since his death. As with anything to do with Jackson – alive or dead – the album comes laden with controversy, with various members of his family claiming that not all the tracks feature his vocals.

So, what's Breaking News actually like? Opening with a series of samples from news broadcasts it's not too dissimilar to Tabloid Junkie, a song from his 1995 History album, with Jackson tackling media paranoia and victimisation (the 1st line is "Everybody wanting a piece of Michael Jackson").

For all the talk of Jackson working with producers like RedOne, and Mark Ronson before his death, the beat that drops after the intro is dated, all synth strings and perfunctory drum claps. Having listened to Jackson's music non-stop as a teenager, the vocal comes as a shock because it does not really sound like him. Deeper and somehow flatter than on his last album, 2001's Invincible, it sounds like a heavily treated guide vocal.

There are the obligatory "hee hees", but as the synthetic horns and vinyl scratches appear in the final third, Breaking News feels like a song Jackson would not have been happy to release. There's also something strangely disturbing about lines such as "he wants to write my obituary", while the news samples at the beginning are staged to sound as if they are referring to Jackson in the past tense, as if his obsession with his mistreatment at the hands of the press continues from beyond the grave.

Daylight Savings Time 2010 Ends Nov 7 and Time Change Fall 2010

Time Change Fall 2010 and the Daylight Savings Time 2010: What time is it? - If you wake up this morning and asking “What time is it?”, this is the biggest question for all the United States residence today because of the Time Change Fall 2010 and Daylight Savings Time 2010.

When is the Daylight Savings Time 2010? People now are asking for what is the exact time of the Daylight Savings Time 2010. If you live in the USA, you've another week until the daylight savings time change change occurs, but it’s already the moment for time change 2010 United Kingdom.

It happened on the month of November while enjoying your Halloween kids Party and Trick and Treat. On November 7, 2010 at exactly 2:00 am, Daylight Savings Time ends in the United States meaning it’s time to turn the clocks back. And you get one extra hour to sleep.

And how it works in some part of the world, if you live in the United Kingdom, Oct 31 is the date when you've to adjust clocks. The change is at 6:30 AM. In Canada, the change is exactly the same as the one in the USA. November 7 is the date when it will happen.

This only means that no matter where you live, you'll gain an extra hour of sleep despite the fact that the process has been taking place for 35 years now, twice a year people in 70 countries who have adopted this kind of system still pose the same age old question and that if they will switch to summer time or winter time before fixing their clocks.

Nevertheless,  there are so many studies that contradict the 2 previous findings that one would have to conclude that the changing of time has too little effects to actually cause any health or environmental issue.

Radio City Christmas Spectacular: A Wonderful Tradition For The Whole Family

The Radio City Christmas Spectacular Show is a wonderful Christmas tradition that the whole family will enjoy. I can still remember my parents taking me to the New York City when I was only 5 years old to see The Radio City Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall.

I remember sitting in my seat and being in complete awe of the Rockettes, and dreaming of being on stage with them someday. Turns out that dancing was not in the cards for me, but I still love watching the Rockettes in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular to this day.

One of the most moving and memorable parts of The Radio City Christmas Spectacular is the “Living Nativity Scene.” As a child, I watched in complete disbelief as the live animals, including camels, came onto the stage. :Read more

Remember, remember the 5th of November: 2 reasons to celebrate

It’s November. 5, a date of high significance that pop culture courteously makes sure we will not forget.

In Great Britain, of course, it’s Guy Fawkes Day, an annual occasion that celebrates the day in 1605 when the assassination plot of King James I was foiled and a man by the name of Fawkes was arrested for his role in the effort.

It’s also a great excuse for Londoners to set off fireworks and for the rest of us to either read an Alan Moore comic book series or watch the movie adaptation of said comic series: “V for Vendetta,” an underestimated 2006 film starring one of this year’s Osar-buzziest ladies, Natalie Portman.

Then there’s that other really authoritative thing that happened on November. 5 — specifically, Nov. 5, 1955, the day that Doc Emmett Brown slipped, hit his head and invented the flux capacitor, which is what makes time travel possible.Read More:

Dayton, Emmer in Minnesota governor cliffhanger

It’s the morning after Election Day in Minnesota, and once again the biggest statewide race does not have a declared winner.

Democrat Mark Dayton holds a small lead over Republican Tom Emmer in the governor’s race. With election returns in early Wednesday from all but nineteen precincts statewide, Dayton is up by 9,257 votes out of more than 1.8 millions cast.

That’s a considerably bigger lead than the 475 votes that separated Republican Norm Coleman and Democrat Al Franken in their Senate race the morning after polling day 2008. But it’s close enough that neither Dayton nor Emmer have claimed victory yet, and on Wednesday morning state GOP leaders are holding a morning news conference with one of the lawyers from Coleman’s recount legal team.

The Independence Party’s Tom Horner conceded defeat Tues night after attracting about 12 percent of the vote.

This is a Breaking News Update: Check back soon for further information. AP’s earlier story is below.

Voting Locations By Zip Code: Polling Locator Guide

There are a number of ways where you can find your voting locations by postal code, such as apps, internet site and Google Maps. The most obvious choice to most would be with the latter, as this is accessible to all computers and smartphones, which we discussed in a recent post.

For those of you who would like an alternative to Google, then the Polling Locator from Polling Places is another great way to find these locations. All you need to do is enter your residence street address and Zip Code and the locator tool will do all the hard work for you.
Show all
Another option is the VoterHub app, which is free. Not only can you get details on where you can vote, but also information on each candidate. This app isn't like some of those that will stop working later today, you can get details on future elections, as well as register to vote if you have not already done so.

These are just 3 ways where you can find the location of where you need to vote, which one will you use? If you know of any other, then please let us know?
