The Rock 'n' Roll Marathon hits the road again tomorrow. Many roads.Event organizers are issuing their annual heads-up: With some 20,000 racers expected to pass through the heart of San Diego, getting around town won't be easy.
The marathon, which begins at 6:30 a.m., will require the partial closure of dozens of streets, including stretches of Morena Boulevard, Park Boulevard, Harbor Drive and North Mission Beach Drive.Most of the closures will be between 5 a.m. and 2 p.m.Caltrans will shut down southbound state Route 163, from Interstate 8 to Interstate 5, from 2 a.m. to noon. Several freeway on-ramps and offramps on I-5 and I-8 will also be closed near the race course.The 26.2-mile course will run through Balboa Park, downtown San Diego, Mission Valley, Bay Park, Old Town and other neighborhoods.
