May 22 (Bloomberg) -- Defending French Open champion Rafael Nadal will play an undetermined qualifier in the first round in Paris, while top-seeded woman Dinara Safina of Russia will take on Anne Keothavong of Britain.
Nadal and Britain’s Andy Murray, who plays Juan Ignacio Chela of Argentina, would have to play each other in the semi- finals, while Roger Federer, who faces Alberto Martin of Spain in the first round, and Novak Djokovic are in the same half of the draw. The Serbian will play Nicolas Lapentti of Ecuador.
Safina and Venus Williams, who faces fellow American Bethanie Mattek-Sands, would face each other in the semi-finals, while second-seed Serena Williams and fourth-seeded Elena Dementieva would meet up in the next-to-last round.
